Why We Made The Everyday Line

Why We Made The Everyday Line

When we started Garner and Tow, the goal was simple: build bags that could keep up with how people actually move through the world. Not just on a bike—but beyond it. Bags that didn’t ask you to choose between function and form, or between riding and living.

Over time, we noticed something.

A lot of people weren’t heading out on multi-day rides or weekend trips—they were commuting. Riding to work. Meeting friends after. Stopping at the grocery store on the way home. Their rides were shorter, but more frequent. More integrated into daily life.

And while our original designs could absolutely handle that, we realized something important: daily riders deserve gear that’s purpose-built for them.

That’s where The Everyday Line comes in.

What Stayed the Same

We didn’t start from scratch. We refined it.

At the core, The Everyday Line is still everything Garner and Tow stands for.

Materials. We continue to use durable waxed canvas because it performs in real conditions. It sheds water, wears in—not out—and tells a story over time. If you’re looking for a waxed canvas commuter bag, this is exactly what that should feel like: reliable, weather-ready, and built to last.

Chicago production. Every bag is still made here in Chicago. That proximity matters. It allows us to stay hands-on with production, maintain consistency, and support the kind of manufacturing ecosystem we believe in. A Chicago bike bag should reflect the city it comes from—resilient, hardworking, and built for all seasons.

Construction standards. We didn’t cut corners to make something “simpler.” The Everyday Line holds the same construction principles as our more adventure-oriented gear: reinforced stress points, thoughtful stitching, and hardware that can take repeated use. These bags are meant to be used every day—and to hold up when you do.

What Changed

Designing an everyday bike bag isn’t about making something smaller. It’s about making something smarter.

Size and scale. The Everyday Line is more compact by design. You don’t need 20+ liters for a daily commute—but you do need the right amount of space, organized well. These bags are sized to carry your essentials without feeling bulky when you’re off the bike.

Mounting system. We focused on making the on-and-off transition seamless. Whether you’re locking up outside a café or heading into the office, the mounting system is intuitive and secure—no fiddling, no second-guessing.

Feature set for daily utility. This is where the biggest shift happened. We designed with daily friction points in mind:

  • Dedicated storage for a laptop, making it a true bike pannier laptop solution

  • Easy-access pockets for the things you reach for constantly

  • Carry options that feel natural once you’re off the bike

Because the reality is, most of your day isn’t spent riding. Your bag needs to work just as well when you’re walking into a meeting as it does when you’re pedaling there.

An Expansion, Not a Compromise

The Everyday Line isn’t a step away from what we’ve been doing—it’s a step deeper into it.

We’re still building adaptable bags. Still focused on the intersection of movement and daily life. The difference is that now, we’re speaking more directly to the rider who’s out there every single day.

This line exists because that kind of consistency deserves better design.

Not more features. Not more bulk. Just the right ones.

And as always, built to move with you.
